sooooooo … a blog post a day?

Oh yes I know I can hear you – what about my promise to post a blog a day! Where have I been? I do keep my promises when it’s physically possible for me to but unfortunately AL photography had something a little sad happen. Our mascot – my beautiful new puppy Freddie got very sick. We were actually worried for a little while there that he might have to have surgery. So I stayed home with him and worked from home while keeping an eye on him for a couple of days. Well a couple of days away = a whole lot of time needed to catch up. Thanks to many of you for your patience while waiting for a return email or a call back. Things are finally back up to speed and we will be working away on getting the blog up to date for the rest of the day. Although I haven’t blogged for a little while things were still going on here so I am going to write a post for every day I missed and catch you guys up :) If there’s anyone even reading this :)

Brandie & Pat

This past weekend I shot a wedding for two very fun loving people – Brandie and Pat and their daughter Precious found us through a neighbour who had family photos done and let’s just say that from there it was history. The formal photos took place at Bryan’s parents house and the private location lended itself to fun, laughs, a few drinks for the boys and some truly great photos that really represent who they are. Thank you Brandie & Pat for sharing your day with Randi and myself and for sitting us at the best table ever :) (Yes Erin that was for you :)

Here are a few photos of the day …

Surprise! Today is your wedding day …. The story of Anna and Shaun

A few months back I was contacted on facebook by Amanda – her best friend was getting married and she was looking to secure a photographer. I thought it was a little weird that she contacted me but in any case I went ahead and started talking about quotes and options with her. Through our discussion I come to find out the reason that I haven’t spoken to the bride or groom is that the groom is planning the wedding as a surprise. I guess they got engaged and talked about not wanting a big fussy wedding so with the help of the maid of honour he arranged everything for a wedding in Niagara Falls behind her back. I know most of you brides would be freaking out at the idea of someone else planning everything but well Anna was the most relaxed bride I have ever seen. Their love was so beautiful and without the stress and tension that goes into a wedding day it was something you could almost reach out and touch. Here are a few photos from the day – Thanks Anna and Shaun for letting me be a part of your day.

Chris & Brianne

Well with the bridal show coming up things have been a little hectic therefore it took me a little longer to post these next photos, but let me say Chris and Brianne’s wedding was truly unique. With a 50’s flair and the definite wow factor of having a bomber plane directly behind the head table, I’m sure that I won’t come across a wedding like this for awhile yet. The ceremony and reception was held at the Canadian Warplane Museum in Mount Hope and provided for a wild setting for a wedding. Here are a few of the many shots we took that day! :)

This is the bride and groom just outside the museum at sunset in a cornfield that I spotted right away as we pulled up.

This vintage truck belongs to a friend or family member I can’t remember which one but I thought it fit quite well with the 50’s theme, I especially like the selective colouring.

These are Brianne’s gorgeous flowers!

This is kind of wild as aparently most of the bride and grooms that get married in the museum get a shot like this but I like how the blue in the sky is the twilight blue as we took this just as the sun was setting :)

This is the happy couple in front of one of the many planes in the hangar – funnily enough the whole reception was in the hangar and the planes presented as a unique backdrop and definitely added to the atmosphere!

and probably the most wild photo of the day is this one – If you look you can see the bomber in the background that sat behind the head table for the whole reception!
I wish them both all the best of luck on their honeymoon in Las Vegas!Amanda

Ree & Jamie – August 25th 2007

So if we complicate things for a moment – this weekend I shot a wedding for Jamie & Ree – Ree is my maid of honor’s, husband’s, sister but she is also a friend. It was a fun day filled with quirky twists and a party that truly befitted the couple. Unfortunately it was a semi outdoor wedding and with all the rain – it did limit us a little bit but even so we still managed to get some shots and in a toast to the rain we used umbrellas in the photos. It was also a good wedding because I got to work with Clayton and Samantha from Tribute Images and I can see this being a partnership that ends up working out for the best for us both. Clayton and Sam’s business has more to do with shooting bands and working on band promo videos but they both approached me about Wedding Photography and Videography, so as a test run Clayton came out to Ree & Jamie’s wedding and we will be combining both of our efforts into a DVD for the bride :) Can’t wait to see it ! In the meantime I am adding some photos from their wedding for you to check out!
I think she looks so regal in this photo – I made it black and white because of the sky being gray due to the weather but I almost like it like this better.

This is what I meant about bringing the umbrellas into it and I think it makes for such a romantic image of a personal moment between the two of them under the umbrella!

So those are a few of the teasers, in any case – I have a wedding at the Airplane Museum this Saturday for Chris and Brianne – I can’t wait as I am sure there will be lots of different photo opportunities :)
